Flat GIMP icon Theme V 2.1 by android272 Flat GIMP icon Theme V 2.1 by android272
The Flat GIMP icon Theme was created to modernize GIMP and keep people focused on their art.  I have heard it all over the web that GIMP is ugly and I wanted to change that.

I personally like Darker themes but others Like lite themes, many people asked for a smaller theme just like GIMP comes with so I made those to. I think that GIMP is an amazing program that many people don't even give a change because it does not look a pretty as Photoshop.

special thanks to :iconknozos: maker of the DPixel theme for help with theme,  :iconzzdas: maker of the minimo for small theme text, Eckhard M. Jäger maker of the ProGimp theme for colored icons, :icondoctormo: maker of PsIcons themfor getting rid of tool box lable and help with gtkrc, :iconmigf1: for some help with making v2 of my theme, Mirek2's flat icon concept from LibreOffice and the GIMP dev team. all of you really helped make this theme.

# Instillation
# =========================================================

Just extract the .zip and place it under the  GIMP themes folder:

* Linux: Copy the Theme you want and the Decor folder into ~gimp-2.8/themes

* Mac: Copy the Theme you want and the Decor folder into Aplications > Right Click Gimp and select Show Package Contents > Contents > Resources > Share > gimp > 2.0 > themes

* Windows: Copy the Theme you want and the Decor folder into C:\Documents and Settings\{YourUsername}\.gimp-2.4\themes or C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\share\gimp\2.0\themes\ or C:\Program Files (x86)\GIMP 2\share\gimp\2.0\themes\

NOTES:  11-16-2014: I have completely rewrote these 8 themes. You now will get along with the 8 icon themes a folder called "Decor". This folder needs to be placed in your Themes directory in-order for V2 and on to work.  Icons and gtk.rc files have been moved there to conserve data for you. V1 was very memory inefficient. All the icons are now located in a icons folder in the "Decor" folder and all themes link to it instead of having their own set of icons.

I am moving to major.minor.patch versioning of Flate GIMP icon Theme. Current version is now 1.0.0. So now you can check back and see if I have made an update. To find out what version you have the zip file will have the version, you can also find this in the read me that comes with the Theme.

I added icons for GIMP 2.10 but commented them out in the imagerc. so if you are using GIMP 2.10 you can uncomment out the unified transform tool, warp tool, align horizontal fill(hfill in doc) and vertical fill(vfill in doc).

I have also been updating some icons here and there. The crop tool, free select tool and others have all been updated. So check back often I may release a silent update.

Just a little thing to solve :)
On startup gimp won't apply theme. Telling me it can't find the necessary files. -_-

/home/felix/.gimp-2.8/themes/Dark_gimp_orange_small/gtkrc:46: Unable to find include file: "imagerc"
/home/felix/.gimp-2.8/themes/Dark_gimp_orange_small/gtkrc:47: Unable to find include file: "../Decor/size/small_size.rc"
/home/felix/.gimp-2.8/themes/Dark_gimp_orange_small/gtkrc:48: Unable to find include file: "../Decor/chrome_color/chrome_color.rc"

But if gimp is running and i change the theme it works all fine. O.o any suggestions?

Are you sure you put the "decor" folder in your themes folder along with the theme you want?

That might be the reason GIMP can't find small_size.rc and chrome_color.rc but not the imagerc...

I don't understand how GIMP handles themes sometimes. You would think if there was a problem with the theme it would revert back to the default theme when you select it and when you load GIMP after. But instead it makes you think it works but does not.

Okay seems to have solved it. (dirty)

Just wrote hardlinks to the files:

include "/home/felix/.gimp-2.8/themes/Dark_gimp_orange_small/imagerc"
include "/home/felix/.gimp-2.8/themes/Decor/size/small_size.rc"
include "/home/felix/.gimp-2.8/themes/Decor/chrome_color/chrome_color.rc"

PS: I'm on 2.8.14.

Hey Andrew, I found your work through a recent episode of LAS and just wanted to take a moment to say that the theme looks amazing and appreciate the hard work that you're putting in to try and make GIMP look first class. That said, I am unfortunately getting seg faults when trying to use it on Ubuntu 14.10 with GIMP 2.8.10. I can pick a theme from the preferences and it will apply and everything continues to work fine until I quit the application. Then, once I try to re-open, I get a seg fault and error messages pertaining to missing stock-image-16.png files from the ../Decor/icons/GIMP_Orange/dialogs and ../Decor/icons/Dark/dialogs directories. A file named stock-images-16.png (with an "s") already exists in this location so I made a copy, removed the "s" to make it stock-image-16.png and tried restarting GIMP but no dice. The error messages no longer kick up, but instead GIMP just never launches at all. It doesn't throw any errors to the terminal so I can't even report an error... In order to get it running again I have to remove the theme files and restart the GIMP. Any suggestions, recommendations, magic dances I can do to hopefully make things work?

I have just updated my theme. see if this helps.

I'm having the same issue (ubuntu 14.04 32-bit with Gimp 2.8.10), even with your update. I tried launching it in the terminal but unfortunately it just sits there and hangs without loading, infinitely, so there is no error report to be given. I was attempting to use Dark Orange Small theme, as a result of this crash. I haven't tested the other ones.

Basically, it works when you first select the theme, but you'll never be able to keep the theme on the next startup so you have to remove it for Gimp to run again.

Regardless, I really like the concept and would love to use it once we figure out the problem. If there is any other diagnostic tools I can use, feel free to let me know so I can give you a proper error report.

OK I have an new update.  I added an Experimental folder, try this theme and see what happens.

It boots up properly the first time, but anytime afterwards it does the same as before.

*Edit: Seems to be slowing down my system for some odd reason. Takes literally 1 second to type each character on this post. :/
